  • Error When Exporting Using Quicktime Conversion

When I go to export my DVNTSC footage for web distribution, using quicktime conversion I get an error message saying “File Error:unknown file type”. I am trying to export as a quicktime movie- using MPEG-4 Video as the compression type and, setting keyframes at 300, quality at medium, bit rate I’ve tried everything from 6400, to 90 max to automatic.

I’ve tried tweaking the sequence settings and rendering but this doesn’t appear to make a difference.

Any idea what might be causing the error message? Interestingly enough I don’t have any trouble exporting if I just export as a quicktime movie, but when I choose to export using quicktime conversion, no matter the file type that I choose to use to compress it I get this error message.

I am running Final Cut 5.1.1 on a Macbook Pro with OS X.

    Any clues would be great!

    Try using compressor.
