Offline/Online…yet again
So this commercial was shot on film, dailies being given to me on digibeta, and then going to get color corrected next week onto HDcam @ 24fps. So, do I need to do the whole Cinema Tools thing? I’ve been down this road before, but to be honest, I don’t remember how it all went. I assume that I should edit at 29.97 from the digi and then somehow convert the EDL to 24…but what is the correct way of doing this?

…it can’t possibly be as simple as bringing the EDL into Cinema Tools and choosing to convert it from 30 to 24…right? Do I need to make some kind of database before hand or anything? I can’t imagine I need the Flex Files, since this is never going back to the neg.

Unless you’re cutting negative (which I doubt, that’s a rare bird anymore)…

So when I do this conversion it makes my clips and sequences 24fps and not 23.97fps…am I going to lose sync? Should I have the color corrected footage that is being transfered to HDcam be transfered at 24 instead of 23.98? This is eventually going to SD TV.

always 23.98. 24 is a special situation format that doesn’t see much playtime. EDL doesn’t matter, 24 and 23.98 have the same numerical data… all it comes down to is playback speed
