  HD to SD:Hard/Software?

  If this belongs somewhere else, please let me know where and accept my apologies. I’m helping someone else with this and only web standards!

  We have 2 projects one in the can and one approaching, both HD projects, that need to be converted into SD for final delivery.

  We operate In FCP, with a BEAT SP DECK connected via AJA PRO IOLA and A Kona 3 card with a K3 breakoutbox, as well as a SONY M25U Deck HDV, DVCAM, DV VTR.

  The FCP sequences are HD, where is the best place for our conversion to take place? In the software or out to a tape and back in?

  Any help is highly appreciated.

  Hardware. The Kona 3 will do a great job of downconverting.

  ok, as in output through the Kona 3 into the Sony DV Deck?

  Yup…as long as the DV deck has SDI or Component inputs, sure. If it has Composite, then the image might really suffer.
