[Ivan Patricio Mosquera] “I have noticed that every body talks about FCP 5.1 and so forth, where do I find an update from FCP 5.0.4 to FCP 5.1.x.”

If I remember correctly, that was a purchased upgrade, not a downloadable upgrade. But it’s been a couple of years so I can’t remember for certain.

Yeah – if I remember correctly version 5.1 was the first Universal version of the app and it came by way of a mail-in upgrade. I think we sent Apple our discs and they sent us back the upgrade to 5.1. I think there was a bit of cost involved – maybe $100… I can’t remember exactly myself.

I’ve too wondered if there was any way now to do the upgrade as 5.1 is an older product… not sure where you might be able to find the 5.1 upgrade if you can find it at all.

The 5.1 update was a very well publicized, not at all secret upgrade.

It was available for something like 18 months. You downloaded a form from apple.com, and mailed it in with your 5.0 install disks and a $49.95 check, then Apple mailed you back a new set of install disks.

They ended the offer maybe 12 or more months ago. I doubt you’ll be able to find a legal copy.

Your best bet now would probably be to skip 5.1 & buy the 6.0 upgrade.

    Patrick.
I read your post about upgrading from FCP 5.04 to 5.1 and wondered if you had any luck. I’m trying to do the same thing but have had no luck finding the upgrade online.

    Thanks
