January 28, 2008 at 8:31 pmCreate a 4:3 timeline, then grab the sequence that is your 16:9 timeline, drag and drop it onto the 4:3 timeline, and it will appear as a nested sequence. It should letterbox itself automatically, and give you the entire picture.

January 28, 2008 at 8:37 pmthanks for your response. I have no problem getting my 16×9 clip into the 4×3 timeline. I get the full image without rendering. My problem is that the image is squeezed. how do I get the footage to match my other 4×3 letterbox clips in my 4×3 sequence?… without losing resolution.

January 28, 2008 at 8:54 pmdouble click the clips in the 4×3 timeline to load them into the viewer, then go up to the motion tab. Go down to the distort menu and find the aspect ratio slider (I think its called aspect ratio, im not in front of my comp at the moment) slide it to either 33 or -33 (I cant remember which) and that should letterbox the clips within the 4×3 frame.
From your description I think this is what your trying to do. Hope it helps.

January 28, 2008 at 9:15 pmThats odd. Are you using an uncompressed timeline? I was just taking a look at the project where I did the same thing and it was an uncompressed 10-bit timeline I brought it into. Also the scale was at 75 and the aspect ratio was at -50 if that helps.
Good luck with it!
