I was listening to the Creative Planet’s Digital Production Buzz podcast a few weeks ago, and I heard Larry Jordan say that with older versions of Final Cut Studio that users shouldn’t upgrade to the latest version of Quicktime. It might cause some performance issues.

In my case, I own Final Cut Studio 5.0.4. I upgraded to Quicktime 7.3.0 about a month ago, and I’m having problems with the audio randomly dropping out when I play a sequence in the timeline.

Does any know what version of Quicktime works best with FCP 5.0.4? Where can I find the version of Quicktime before version 7.3.0.? Finally, how do I uninstall version 7.3.0 and reinstall the previous version?

    Thanks.

    My Specs are:

    Final Cut Pro Studio 5.0.4
    OSX 10.4.11. Tiger
Dual 2GHz Power PC G5 processor
    RAM 1.5gigs
Graphic Card: ATI Radeon 9600 XT
    Quicktime 7.3.0

The only good way that I’ve found to reinstall or go back to a previous version of QT is to reinstall the operating system, then when you run the updates, just update to the version that you’re looking for.

I would suggest using QT 7.2 with FCP 5.0.4
