  terrible DIGITIZING CRASH (isolated to RS422)

  Been editing for years and have seen (and solved) every kind of tech problem but this one is beyond me. Here’s my setup:

  Intel MacPro Quad (4 x 2.5 GHz) w/ 4.5 GB Ram
  OS 10.4.11, AJA KONA LHe Card with the latest Control Panel (5.0)
  FCP Studio 6.0.2 and a downgraded Quicktime 7.3.1 (went down from 7.4 to try to solve issue)

  All was working perfectly, installed then uninstalled EX1 cam drivers and Adobe CS3 (have no idea if this made the difference). NOW Log and Capture HARD CRASHES FCP after anywhere from 1 second to 20 seconds. We tried everything (prefs, Pram, cabling, etc) and have isolated the problem to when our Sony J30 or Betcam SP deck is using the RS-422 9 Pin and SDI into FCP. J30 digitizes perfectly when Firewire is the Deck Control w/SDI and digitizes perfect when going directly through the AJA. I’m completely stumped!!! Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

  In/Out, Capture Now make no difference – also there is a tremendous amount of space on the SATA drive. Please email if you need clarification.
