    Hello:
If I render from my DV timeline a QT Movie, it plays back great on my FCP 2.0 system at home. Now, when I take that same QT movie to work (I work in Television as a commercial production editor) and play it on my PC through Quicktime, it looks just terrible, all fuzzy and blown up. And if I attempt to export it into my dpsVelocity HD system it also looks terrible as well. However, if I simply re-name that QT file with a .mpeg extension on the desktop, all of the sudden it looks fantastic playing through Media player and looks great when imported into my Velocity system. For my own personal knowledge base, can someone tell me what’s going on here. Why does simply changing the file extension change the video quality so greatly. And is there anything I should do differently to avoid this workaround. Thanx in advance for alleviating my curiosity.

I think it probably has something with QuickTime reading the file as High Quality Video. When you have the file open in QT and if it looks bad, open the visual settings in the menu, then select the video track and make sure that High Quality Video is selected.

    Did that fix it?

    Hi Russ:
I’m back at home right now, I’ll try this first thing in the morning when I get into work. Thanks
