dsr11 no communication
Hello out there,
Y’all helped me cure half of the problem… Thanks! I get the timeline to view via the dsr11.
BUT, I can’t get the thing to communicate when it’s in log and capture… I’ve tried trashing FCP preference user data and plist, zapping P-ram, what else?, cleaning qT receipts and re-downloading…
If the worst case scenario of burning out the FW board were so, would I be able to get video at all from the timeline??
Should I reload FCP5.1??

Is the Deck in the “DV” mode on the remote selector?

That all sounds right. When I blew my FW board I couldn’t get anything through the deck as I recall. PCI firewire cards are cheap though so for $30 – $40. you can try that if you don’t get anywhere. Are your av settings correct. It is best to use “easy settings” for normal dv and of coarse you must use firewire ntsc or pal and not firewire basic. It sounds like a setting is off in your preferences.
If your tape is dvcam it should play slower in your canon which I believe is only dv. DV tape runs slower so you get an hour on the tape as opposed to dvcam which runs tape faster so you only get 40 minutes from a tape. If you played a 40 minute dvcam program in a dv device where it played out in 1 hour the 40 minute program would be in slo mo. Perhaps the tape was recorded at 24 fps.
