    Hi

So I have an HDV timeline in FCP vs 6 and want to make a DVD in DVD studio pro. Done SD a zillion times but new to HDV. I have a couple of questions
    1. HDV DVD related…What are the best export settings for my HDV timeline from FCP vs6 to get best results to import into Studio pro and create a high def DVD?
    2. SD DVD related. If my client can’t play HD DVDs and needs a standard def DVD, what are the best export settings from FCP to allow me to create a standard def DVD again in studio pro?

    Many thanks in advance

Currently you can only create HD DVD on a Standard DVD (4.7gb) with DVDSP. You can fit about 20 minutes on a single layer DVD-R.

Once it is encoded you need to make sure your settings in DVDSP are correct for HD (all of this is in the manual).

1 & 2. You create a self-contained or reference movie from FCP and drop that file into compressor. Choose your correct setting. Same workflow as SD.

You gotta love the conform times from HDV!

Is the conforming necessary if you are only going to DVD, and maybe a self-contained Quicktime file for archiving and not back to tape?
