Speaking of keyboards…
If this has been discussed here it didn’t come up on my limited searches…
Is there a company that makes replacement keyboard keys that are specific for FCP functions? I know that complete FCP keyboards are available but I’m hoping to continue using my Bluetooth keyboard and would like to simply modify it. I found one company that will make custom keys to order and another that had keys available for older versions of FCP. I’m looking for the latest version.
Any info appreciated.

Thank you! Gentlemen and scholars, both, obviously.
Brief question: If you have used one of these products do you give it a good review? Good fit, ease of keying while editing, durability, etc.? Oh…and I guess the FCP keys haven’t changed in the latest version so I assume you don’t have any version/key conflict issues, do you?

I actually use the “Logic Keyboard” for fcp keyboard.

The one I just bought 2 weeks ago includes even more shortcuts than the one I bought 2 years ago.
Thats what I use, but I have to say, I like that rubberized slip cover one escandon posted.

Logic keyboards are great. I use the bella on the FCP machine at work it’s ok but there are functions I could not get to work properly. I’m sure that’s my fault. I use the logic keyboard for that “other” edit system on my pc and love it. I’m buying the FCP keyboard for my mac at home. I’ve never been a fan of stickers.

I use to Logic Keyboard as well.. built it out myself with some special shortcuts I need.

here you can build and get you keys, they may work with your bluetooth keyboard, just make sure to use the “key remover” tool, it keeps you from breaking key connections.
I also use the plastic overlay for my laptop while traveling.
I love and recommend both.

I just heard from the folks at KB Covers. I asked them about my impression that their FCP plastic keyboard cover doesn’t appear to deliver as much information as some dedicated FCP keyboards. They acknowledged that their FCP cover has the non-modifier key shortcuts and some command key shortcuts. But they don’t included modifier shortcuts that use the shift and option keys. However, they said, “In the future, we may produce a cover that has more modifier commands that looks more like our Aperture cover.”
I’ve just written to LogicKeyboard, asking how complete the information is on their replacement keys (“build your own keyboard”). I’d like to get as much keyboard commands and shortcuts on the keys as possible. (I can’t memorize ALL of ’em!)

What about the pre-configured key board. It comes in the standard usb version and the wireless. I think you need bluetooth for the wireless however.

Yeah, as my original post says, I have bluetooth. I might end up with a preconfigured keyboard but I have this brand new bluetooth keyboard that came with my Mac Pro and I’m trying not to waste it. We’ll see…

be aware that the wireless keyboard won’t allow you
to scrub the timeline forward or back a frame when holding
down the arrow keys.Wireless only sends 1 key tap instead of a “hold-down”
arrow action like the wired one.Thats the reason I don’t have the wireless version.
