  Hello
  lets say I have a clip of someone talking up front of the camera , what I would love to know is how can I make that clip in to black and white but I want persons tie to stay in colour, is there a way in FCP or I have to do it in Color ?
  if there is a way in final cut, how ?
  please help me, I really need to know it

  you can do it in FCP….
  duplicate the clip and place it frame accurate on v2.
  tint the bottom layer black and white.
  on v2, mask out the area you want to stay in color (hopefully there isn’t much movement or you will have to keyframe or rotoscope).

  That is a basic way, there are others, but this may get you what you need.

  technically you would mask out the area you want to be black and white, leaving what you want colored, but I think you get the point. I’d mask what I needed, then invert the mask.

  As john says, search “The Pleasantvill Effect”. There are few tutoials about how to do it with the 3W-CC in FC.
