I’m using FCP 4.5 for the footage I shot with sony HDV V1U.

I digitized the footage with DV to offlineRT JPEG setting first. When I was done, I recaptured the necessary clips with DVNTSC 48Khz setting. As I reconnected the media, some clips were squeezed while other aren’t (got letter box) in one sequence. Why? I need all the clips to have the letterbox instead of being squeezed.

All the tapes are shot in the same format and I set the camera to export the image with the letter box.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the clips to see if “distort” in the motion tab is set to something other than “0.” If so, highlight them all and perform a “remove attributes”–“distort” on all clips. If that’s not it, then you possibly made a mistake during the recapture.

[David McGiffert] “Wow David, nice one…”

Thanks David. Thats a pretty well known FCP “wrinkle,” and certainly one to store away in your memory banks.
