moving back from 6.01 to 5.14
I’ve been having a lot of trouble opening a project created on 5.14, on my 6.01 version of Final Cut. Apparently the problem is far from unique. I’ve decided to reinstall 5.14 to do the editing.
My question: I’ve never gone backwards in program versions. Do I have to uninstall the 6.01 version software before I install 5.14. And if I do have to do that, how do I uninstall the software.
Sorry for so basic a question, but would love a little help.

You do not have to uninstall.
You could have saved yourself many hours by cloning your Hard Drive before you updated to FC Studio 2.

I wouldn’t say that Steve was not being nice. I thought he was merely being blunt. It’s advice that has been given many times on this forum, by many people. Me included.
And if Jim is new to this forum, it may very well be the first time that he’s hearing it here.
Either way, it’s advice that’s well given. Go here, and download the free backup utility: https://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html I use it anytime I make a major upgrade. I also use it to make monthly backups. Whether I need to or not. 😉

If I wanted to, I can open every version of FCP going back to version 1.

In the Apple web site now there are some good articles about how to uninstall FCS2 applications. If you go back to FC5.1 you should go back to QT7.1. Thy used to work very well together.

I may have been unclear in my first post. I never had version 5.14. I’m working on a project that’s been brought to me in 5.14. I had a G5 with a pre-intel chip 5.04 version. That machine is down right now, needing work. And I just recently installed 6.01 onto a new MacBook Pro I have. And that is where I would install the 5.14.
So did I read you right as to that I don’t have to uninstall the 6.01 to put 5.14 on the machine? And once I do that, will I have both?
And I don’t get the cloning thing. All the media was created in 5.14, so where’s the hours of extra work?
And I am brand new to this discussion site, and had no luck trying to find a thread.
