  More Gradual Speed Changes

  After all this time using FCP, I still can’t seem to figure out how to make a variable speed change more gradual. When I look at the speed velocity % (which does not seem to be very precise ever) it jumps from 100-300 very quickly. How can I make it more gradual, like 100-125-150-175-200 ? Even when I use the smoothing curves it doesn’t really seem to do what I want. The always seems to be an abrupt jump from normal speed to anything faster. Any tips?
