making a logo look like fireworks
Posted by Afrancis on December 16, 2007 at 10:51 pmHi Does anyone know how to make this logo (just the red part)look like a firework? https://www.dpacoms.com/images/finallay/Experience/Casestudiespic/hamleys.jpg
Basically I trying to make the letters sparkle after exploding abit like those fireworks with writing. I am after 3 different firework explosions. One normal fire work in one corner of the screen the second in the other corner of the screen and the grand finale of the logo firework in the centre. I have the original logo if anyone wants to have a try.

This calls for particle effects. Motion has pretty decent particle generators (also Afetre Eeefects and Combustion), but its not terribly easy to tame particle effects and to make them behave in a perfectly convincing fashion if you’ve not had a lot of experience with them. However, there’s no time like the present to master something new…
I’d recommend giving Motion a look, and if you can’t make the logo satisfying yourself, think about hiring a Motion, After Effects, or Combustion expert for the job.

December 17, 2007 at 1:04 amToo time consuming for me… But, an excellent way for you to get some experience with particles. I’m sure if you tinker in AE and post some of your efforts on the AE Forum you wil get lots of helpful input.
Trapcode or any of the other light ray filters are nice, but particles really sell fireworks and sparkles.

December 17, 2007 at 8:58 amTrapcode Particular (after effects plug-in) is a great particle generator – as well as it having some basic firework presets, there are plenty of tutorials on the web that should be able to give you enough info to create something yourself (especially as you are design student…its your job to learn, not to get other to do it for you!!)

December 17, 2007 at 1:00 pmHi Alison,
you’d be surprised how many post on here looking for exactly that – people to do the work for them!. I apologise if my comment came across harsher than it was intended.
you might want to try looking at these sites – you might find something to help…
the after effects & Trapcode forums here on the Cow.
https://www.trapcode-people.net/index.php – a user forum thats a bit awkward to navigate round
http://www.videocopilot.net – andrew kramer does brilliant tutorials for After Effects (some of which use Particular)
Also – it would be worth looking for the podcast tutorials by Aharon Rabinowitz on the Cow – his After Effects lesson are invaluable
https://www.trapcode.com/download.html – you can download tutorials by Peder Norby (the guy who IS trapcode.
Trapcode Particular is pretty easy to use but can be devilishly complex once you start exploring the possibilities. Have fun….
