    Hello!

I am an old-time FCP editor (FCP1.0) and my GL-1 just broke on a shoot in Africa. Of course, this is a good thing, because I now have no excuse re. upgrade. I DO hire a DP when I need to (theatrical, broadcast)

I would be most grateful if I could have some help. My minimum requirements are seamless capture to FCP, once the settings are correct, 3-chip (or equivalent quality with a 1-chip) and weight. Also 16×9 and 24fps. I keep hearing of true and psudo 24fps, just as I used to hear about real and contrived 16×9.

Essentially, I’m hoping to find the next generation GL-2 in HDV, but I don’t think it’s out there. I was just about to buy the Canon XH-A1 until I held it. For me, too heavy to hand shoot for any length of time. But okay to haul around, and mount on a tripod.

If my dream camera doesn’t exist, I’m not too embarrassed to use the Canon HV20. Okay–a little embar And I realize moat of you are. But I’ The picture is over 100% better than the prosumer SD cameras, and the audio is fine with a shotgun and a beachtek. These give it ballast because it’s too light. I realize I’m fuzzy with the terms “okay picture quality and ok audio. I hope to get to that later.

Thank you’all so much for your opinions,

Sony Z1 is a nice camera. I’ve edited full broadcast documentaries shot with that camera.
