HDV, AVID & Duck – a good news story
With so many nay sayer posts about HDV, I just wanted to share a good news story to encourage people to use HDV.
Documentary shot on a Sony V1. 103 camera tapes. Captured into an AVID Adrenalin as HDV. Editor logged and captured sections off tape, not whole tapes. Timecode breaks were never ignored.
Automatic Duck converted the aaf project file export from AVID into an FCP project file. HDV reloaded via firewire. Over a thousand edits in the 74 minutes and perfect sync and recapture on all but three shots. The only thing that didn’t translate was shot reframing and moves on stills. Dissolves and super text translated. Text needed to be resized and positioned. All in all a painless from AVID and HDV behaving itself when managed properly. Producer and edit facility and I spoke before the first frame was shot.
Also the pics off the V1 are excellent and look much nicer than Z1 footage.
