Hi, I figured out the right workflow for this years ago, but since have forgotten. If anyone can send some ideas, I would appreciate it.

    1. Using stills and text, create several animations in AfterEffects. I need a 16×9 format for the plasma screen it will be display on. So I’ve chosen DV Widescreen for the composition.

    2. Export using either DV or uncompressed 8-bit to QT.

    3. Import to FCP and edit into timeline (should the sequence be set to 16×9? anamorphic? there was something about only changing the setting after the media was inserted?)

    4. Export for DVD. Presumably, the image should be squished so that when it’s presented on the plasma, it is stretched out and will look normal.

    5. The client does not want any black on the screen, letterbox is not an option. I know I’ve done this without letterbox, but have no idea how.

I’ve tried several combinations of settings, too many to list here, but nothing is working.

    Thanks

    Geralyn

Your workflow is correct. Edit your FCP sequence in anamorphic/squishy view. In AE, select widescreen in your Comp set ups. I export the AE renders as Quicktimes.

Hi – I’m a bit confused. In AFX I use the widescreen setting, right?

When I import into FCP and lay the QTs into a sequence that has anamorphic selected, the image gets more stretched out, not squishy.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Geralyn

After I import the file into the FCP Browser, scroll the Browser to the right until you find the Anamorphic column and check it on the AFX clip.
