    Mortimer,

Did you find out that the new issue of the x800 XT was ready for prime time, or are you just willing to test it???

[mortimer heathcliff] “i thought i had read here that the new one is THE one to get and that it was the older version that was yielding funky artifacts, etc.?”

I think you may have misunderstood, but it may work for ya anyway… If you bought it with a credit card, which you most like had to, you can always get your $$$ back. Keep me/us posted and good luck, I hope its works like a charm.

“think” i may have misunderstood? that is probably one of the understatements of the year! : )

a lot of this stuff is getting harder and harder to understand as the years go by. in some (actually, very few) ways, i miss the simplicity of holding film in my hands, physically cutting it (with a razor blade rather than a wireless mouse), and marking a dissolve on it with a grease pencil.

    thanks again!

Look, I’m old enough to have “touched film” too, but I sure as hell don’t miss it from a Post perspective.

I like bhphotovideo.com — since I live in CA, I don’t pay sales tax for out-of-state internet vendors.

[Bob Roberts] “since I live in CA, I don’t pay sales tax for out-of-state internet vendors.”

    Hey Bob,

Be careful about saying that aloud. The FTB just loves to nail people on that one. Most people avoid the sales tax and write off the equipment too, and apparently thats “double-dipping” according the FTB and a real no-no. I’m not sure they’re monitoring the Creative Cow, but you never know, its very easy to don a spotted hide and blend in with the herd…
