Steve Kilisky dropped a few hints on his own blog:

The new AENY User Group will be having their monthly meeting on the 29th. I am glad that my crazy travel schedule worked out enabling me to participate at this meeting.
    (…)
In this new era of more open communication, I am happy to say that I will be showing some “exciting new software”. I wonder what that will be?

While it won’t be the first public look at this “exciting new software” (that happens on the 27th here); it will be the first in-depth look. The nice thing about showing “new” software is that for a brief moment in time, I know more about the product than the people who use it day in and day out.

If you happen to be in the vicinty, I hope you can make the meeting. Andrew Kramer is also presenting and I’m sure he will be showing some very cool techniques, tips, and tricks using After Effects.

be sure to check out the live webcast of the CS3 launch, perhaps some after effects news there ?

Nice, yes I’d say the CS3 launch is going to be interesting, ….even if a new version of AE is still a while off being released I’m excited about the new extended version of photoshop (the prospect of being able to do roto and possibly 3d texture painting in it). All will be revealed in a couple of days i guess. Can’t wait! 🙂

After effects is gonna jump from 7 to 8 this time around it seems. When you look at the issue of CreativeCow magazine where Adobe annouces that production studio is comming to MAC, PremierePro screenshot has two “AE8” projects in the timeline.

Lets hope this unusually big jump in version naming scheme warrants itself with feature set. Like full OpenGL support or 3d or nucleo like features… it’d be let down if only new features are the ones listed on Amazon.

Yea no kidding. I guess they’ve given up on chasing Shake and Combustions of the world and look more into ProConsumer camp. I hope i’m wrong though.
