Final Cut Studio 2 Academic
Posted by M1b12b93 on November 17, 2007 at 3:43 pmI am thinking about buying the academic version of FCS2 but I want to know if the academic version has the ability to receive updates through software update. I am running leopard and need the updates so I can ran FCS2 smoothly. I saw that apple now has an updates download page on its website but I don’t think it works for academic serials. Bottom line, does FCS2 ACADEMIC update through the built-in software update?

November 17, 2007 at 11:50 pmAcademic versions for for learning centers, schools and students only. They are not for any professional services whereby you are charging for your services and earning money. It is a violation of the Academic license to use that version to earn profit.
In addition, you will not be eligible for an upgrade to the next version of FC Studio. You will have to purchase the full version.

November 18, 2007 at 12:39 amUnless it’s been changed again there is nothing at all in the license about using it for profit or anything like that. The only restriction are that you be eligible as a student, teacher or administrator.
All the best,

No it has always been that you could to use it to make a profit. Several years back when I was In college I worked at the Campus Bookstore in the computer department, and it was a requirement on ALL academic software to sign an agreement that in part said that you would not be using the software to make money. It was for educational prepossess. That was only about 3-4 years ago.
