Could anyone tell me the difference between:

    ATI Radeon X800 XT

    &

    ATI Radeon X1900

as they both have 256mb of onboard memory.

I’m using the possible new card (from my Geforce 6600) to speed up renders on some of my FCP plugins.

The ATI Radeon X800 Xt is for the old G5s with AGP, and is for the new machines with PCI Express.
The ATI Radeon X800xt has been released so the people with old G5s can upgrade the Graphic card. Probably is more limited than the ATI Radeon X1900, but is the only available option.

Since your current card is the nVidia GeForce 6600, that means you have a PCI-Express G5, and you can use the ATi X1900, not the X800.

Make sure you get the X1900 G5 Edition (aka X1900GT) and not the X1900XT – the XT only works in a Mac Pro.

Does anyone have an opinion on upgrading video cards on an older PCI-X G5? Are the render times much better than with my Radeon 9650?
