OK…amidst all the hubbub of updates fixing things and ruining others…tapes not capturing right and questions on how to properly monitor your footage…I would like to announce (iffin I am allowed) the airing of ANDREW JACKSON, on the History Channel. I saved posting the airdate until the time was close. Well, it is close. And it will air THREE times very close to one another…so you will be sure to catch it.

    Andrew Jackson.

    Sunday, November 18 08:00 PM
    Monday, November 19 12:00 AM (that’s right…MIDNIGHT)
    Saturday, November 24 05:00 PM

Not sure if these are Eastern or Pacific times…there have been times when it was set to air at 8PM and I find that it is on a 5PM…so 8PM eastern, 5PM Pacific. But then it re-aired later that night.

Anyway, this is my third History Channel high def show cut with FCP…so I thought it would be relevant. Like my first History Channel High Def show, this was shot with the Varicam and HVX-200 at DVCPRO HD 720p 23.98…edited at that resolution, and output to HDCAM 1080psf 23.98 via a Kona 3. I edited and color corrected the show (Colorista being the tool for color correction) and created the open title (with Motion).

I know that other people have shows that air ALL THE TIME that are edited with FCP (GOOD EATS), and since it is a regular show that you can pretty much catch anytime…making an announcement isn’t really necessary. Since the stuff I work on is long format, and I get many 3 or 4 shows done a year (the this year, iffin I’m lucky) I figured that I needed to announce it.

    Enjoy.

    Shane

What about a gal? Got something against gals?

    :^)

“fellow editor…” I knew what you meant.

You’re absolutely right Shane. Excuse me for being entirely politically incorrect.

However, I don’t think either of the two girls we have on the Creative Cow have shows airing soon… 🙂

    Isn’t that sad? TWO gals.

At least I had a gal on the last series I was on. ONE woman and 4 guys. We need more female editors.

Thanks for the heads up Shane, my Comcast area JUST added History Channel HD a week ago.
I look forward to watching your show.

I’m posting my first TV series right now (It’s airing in March so I’ll wait until I have play dates to share here)

I’ve implemented workflows and methods both you and Walter have been kind enough to share here. The two of you are well known names at my post facility. You’re the “History Channel Guy” and Walter is the “Good Eats Guy.”

    good times. 🙂

Hi guys and I guess that leaves one gal….
You’ve got to be kidding about those stats? I’m sure there are other gals hiding behind some of those screen names, don’t you think? 🙂
Or maybe the gals just figure everything out themselves without posting (ha, ha!)
    Congrats Shane.
I’m on the other side of the pond, but wish you luck!
    Cheers!

Congratulations. Great topic — and three shows? That’s impressive.

Will this be on regular-old-History Channel or just HD?

Funny thing about History Channel…they require an HD deliverable, and a digibeta. For the longest time they have ONLY aired the digibeta. I HOPE that they air the HDCAM…

Food Network does the same thing, but they air the DigiBeta on the SD channel and HDCAM on the HD channel. Still don’t have the HD channel here yet though! bummer.
