This is an HDV deck. The deck has HD-SDI out. This will allow me to output footage shot on HDV, and edit it in any flavor of HD video I desire, most likely ProRes 422.

In our workflow, we will be editing with video shot on XDCAM-HD and HDV video. The HVR-1500 does NOT have HD-SDI in. How do I dump my edited time line back to HDV tape with this deck?

    Firewire.

But if you convert your HDV footage to another format to edit with, you’ll take another HDV compression hit on the way back to tape.

If you plan to master back to this machine, then stay in the HDV format all the way through your Post process. You only want to convert your footage if you are mastering to another format such as a Panasonic DVCPro HD / D5 deck or to a Sony HDCAM deck.
