Im doing a music video that I shot on DVCPRO50, and I have a bunch of old archival stuff I need to integrate into the video which is all DV……it is all already in my system as such and Im running FCP 5.6. somthing……is there anything I need to know about when letting FCP render DV footage up to the DVCPRO50 codec? This would be the easiest way for me to use it, I really dont have time to go back and recapture the stuff using my Kona and the DVCPRO50 codec on ingestion……anybody weigh in here? Thks…

If the source for the archival footage was something other than DV, you might want to redigitize to DV50 so you don’t take the 4:1:1 DV color space hit. (you could do this when you’re done and just digitize what you’re using)

If the source for the DV footage was DV, then you should be fine to just render it in a DV50 timeline. It shouldn’t lose any quality (but it won’t look any better either).

    Hi Paul,
I would recommend you the Nattress “Chroma Sharpening” filter. Your DV footage will look MUCH BETTER when edited in a DV50 time line.
