HELP: Multiclip with HD and HDV footage?
I am just about to start editing a live concert which has been shot using 4 x HDV cameras and 1 x HD camera (Sony PAL), editing using FCP 5.1.2. Because I am hoping to edit using Multi-clip, I have decided to digitise the footage into the FCP at DV-PAL Anamorphic resolution. I captured the 4 tapes of HDV footage using a standard Sony HDV deck using the DV PAL capture settings in FCP, and input the 1 x HD tape also as DV PAL Anamorphic using a Sony HD deck and Blackmagic card.
My quandry occurs as, when I try to create a multiclip of the HD and HDV down-converted footage, it comes up with an error message saying something about ‘incompatible codecs’…looking at the HD footage settings, it appears that it hasnt input to the FCP with true DV-PAL settings, even though I have changed the Capture Preset in AV settings to DV-PAL 48khz Anamorphic…
Could this be something to do with the way the footage is captured from an HD deck using the Blackmagic card? Is there an easier way to input this footage to make it all compatible in order to edit using Multi-clip? And will upgrading to FCP v6 help to get around any of these problems?
Please excuse my ignorance on these matters as I am still trying to get my head around FCP and the wonderful world of HD…
Many thanks for any advice…
Francoise x
