I’ve got a tape that was shot from an old camcorder from about five years ago and I’m trying to capture the tape using my DVX100 as the deck. I get an error message in FCP after about three seconds of logging saying the tape can’t be read. The tape plays on the DVX just fine, but won’t capture. Is there something I can set in FCP? Or do I need to find another deck?

    Thanks,

    Eric

You should try playing/capturing the tape in another camcorder or deck.

The tape may have been recorded on a camera with heads that were misaligned with the unit you are now using.

Try dubbing the tape directly to another DV camcorder or deck via FireWire.

Then try capturing the new dub.
