  • How to turn off real time effects?

Posted by Joe Murray on October 8, 2007 at 5:59 pm

I’m using Studio 2 – When I put a caption on a shot the playback stutters. I try to render it, but as far as the system is concerned, it is a real time effect and does not need to be rendered.
How do I force a render – alt R causes a render but the Grey Bar does not change colo(u)r and play back does not improve.
I have tried turning on RT Safe, and limiting realtime play back to 1Mb/sec – No Joy.
Drive is a G-Raid, system Dp 2.5 Ghz G5 and project Pal DV. So plenty of poke.
I’m monitoring through a Kona Lh card –

Go to your sequence > render all and sequence > render selection settings and put a check mark next to all the options (most importantly, the full option). Then hit option-r (or alt-r as you say) and the sequence will then render.

Jeremy, Thanks for your prompt reply.
At the risk of sounding (and being) dim.
    Does “>” mean menu?
So do I need to tweak the sequence settings in the in the Sequence Menu?

    Many Thanks

No worries man, this is one of those things that is off by default, but really should be on if you ask me.

Yes. Up at the top of your screen, in the Sequence Menu, the one between Modify and Effects

    Sequence > Render All

    Sequence > Render Selection

then select each option (such as full, proxy, preview, etc) to put a check mark by it, but make especially sure to put one by the ‘full’ option.

    Then hit option-r.

    Big Thanks Jeremy.
I’d always wondered what that menu was for……
