Better/best web compression setting?
Hello!
I’m just putting together some editing demo snippets to upload to my website and I’m trying to figure out the best bet regarding which compression setting to use so that people on either a Mac or Windows unit can easily see it.
Right now, I’m using the .mpg setting in Compressor 3 via FCP6. File sizes are kind of big, but they look pretty good and seem to stream relatively quickly in Quicktime on Mac. However, they have to download in their entirety before playing on Windows via Media Player.
Is there a better setting to use than .mpg for this use, one that perhaps might create a smaller file mb size? I’m familiar with Flip4Mac and the WMV setting that, for $99, is accessable right in Compressor 3. However, the viewer would still need to download a free reader for viewing in Quicktime. So, Windows viewers are all set but Mac viewers need an extra hoop to jump through. .mpg files work right away on both systems.
Any suggestions would be great – thanks very much!
