Keyboard shortcut – select clip
Posted by Joe Murray on October 2, 2007 at 9:55 amR.S.I is killing me and I only 3 weeks into a 20 week job.
The answer? More key board shortcuts – I hope.Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut for “select clip” previous and next, in the timeline?
You know, the equivalent of clicking on it with the mouse – Ouch!Joe Murray replied 18 years, 7 months ago 5 Members · 6 Replies -

October 2, 2007 at 10:43 amSee the discussion down below about a WACOM tablet. Absolutely no pain and I have set up folks with carpel tunnel syndrome with these units. Editing with a mouse is extremely bad for your wrists. Get a tablet and you’ll edit stress free.

October 2, 2007 at 12:11 pmThere are no shortcuts for these. To select the clip under the playhead you have to press the X key, which marks I/O (which maybe is not something you want to do), then press Opt-A to select the items between 1/O.
Of course this will only work if the autoselect buttons are set for the appropriate video and audio tracks. Cmd-1,2,3,4,etc on the keypad will toggle the autoselect buttons for individual video tracks on and off. Opt-1,2,3,4,etc on the keypad will toggle the auto select buttons for individual audio tracks on and off.
As there are no menu items to make the selections that you want, they cannot be set as keyboard shortcuts.
Bottom line, you kind of have to click on it, either with a mouse or a tablet pen.
Oh, and if you would take a moment to use Feedback to add your name to the list of people who have made this simple, basic request over the years and been ignored, it would be appreciated.
All the best,
Tom

October 2, 2007 at 12:17 pmThanks.
Walter how have you assigned the buttons on the Wacom?
Request sent to Apple – I’m pretty sure you can do it on Avid.

October 3, 2007 at 3:36 amOK, so now there are two of us on this forum named Joe Murray. I guess I’m going to have to create a more complete signature. Anyway, welcome to the forum…unless this is some really lame form of identity theft…

October 3, 2007 at 12:22 pmNo mate, I’ve been around for ever. I used to spend a lot of time on the Cine’Wave board.
But, Hey! Two Joe Murray Editors. I spend most of my time in the UK so it shouldn’t confuse anyone. Just don’t get arrested with my name
