Unable to speed clips, audio & video keep separating
This might be complicated for me to try to explain since I’m better at talking things out.
Right now I am having a hard time because even when I highlight the video and audio track of a clip it will not allow me to speed it up or slow it down. The speed selection is greyed out when I right click it with my mouse. I have to copy the video and audio clip I want to effect, and paste it in a new sequence to manipulate the time line. Then copy and paste it into my original time line.
Also, it will not allow me to speed both audio and video up at the same time for some reason. I have to first effect the video line, then effect the audio line.
I hope I’m not as clear as mud 🙂 If anybody has any pointers I’d really appreciate it. This is not an emergency as I can still do what I want to do with the above method, it’s just sort of … an annoyance.

You must LINK the A/V clips (highlight them and then, Apple-L) to “marry them.”
You should not attempt to adjust the speed of a clip already on the timeline.
You should adjust the speed on the ORIGINAL clip (in the Viewer,) THEN edit it onto the timeline.
Otherwise, if its on the timeline already, the clip will change length and shift every clip that follows it on the timeline. -

The way I do it is to drag the clip up to a video track that isn’t in use…then lock all the other video and audio tracks, then change the speed of the clip I’m changing then drag it back down to wherever I want it and adjust the other audio and video tracks accordingly.
