A client sent me some mp4 files they made in Handbrake, which I never heard of before. Anyway, they look nice, are 23.98 and open in QT and play fine in AfterEffects, but Final Cut will have nothing to do with them. I have to export them to 8bit or DV with Compressor or Streamclip.

    Any word on this?

    Have a wonderful day.

Those are H.264 files, just like the movies they have on the iTunes store. It looks great but it’s not really an editing format. What you’re doing is correct, convert them to something more Final Cut friendly and go from there.

    Hey Jeff,

What a retarded tool I might add.

Boy a day later, I’ve got these into 8 bit and also Motion Jpeg, both have a lot of pixelization in anything moving, really terrible. Any fix for this?

    Have a wonderful day.
