just upgraded to final cut 6.0.1, and in so doing updated a couple fcp 5.0.4 projects.

I exported an after effects 6.5 project as an hdv 720p24 quicktime at 23.98 fps; imported that file into a fcp timeline with same settings. the file played back stuttered. i thought it was just choppy playback, but scrubbing through the file in the source window some frames seem to repeat. exporting the file got me the same herky jerky quality.

funny thing is, I went to other files I’d created in ae that I’d imported before upgrading, and they too had this sort of new corruption. some were files exported from ae at 23.98fps animation compression, others at the same hd compression as above.

any ideas on what’s going on and how to fix this?

This will not likely happen with a project created in 6.0.1, have you tested that? Older projects upgraded can act weird, I think it has to do with the new timeline/frame rate architecture.

I would just do the work in 30p, no headaches period, similar or better look.

    Have a wonderful day.

thanks. i tried creating a 6.0 project, and it solved the issue for one clip. the other clip now plays fine in the source window, but still has the same issue when played in / outputted from the timeline. any idea? thanks again,
