  • Sony consumer HDV as deck for V1U? compatability with FCP?

So I just picked up a Sony V1U, and now I need to figure out a deck solution as I don’t want to use the camera for capture, and I spent all of my money on the camera and don’t have the $2000 for a real deck. Will the consumer Sony HDV cameras play back 24P footage? It should work as it’s just 1080i with pulldown right? Anybody know of specific cameras people are using for this purpose? Also are there any compatability issues with Final Cut if I do this? My other option is to pick up a firestore and just keep my tapes around as backup. My only issue with this would be that I shoot a lot of snowboarding and I don’t know how the firestore would perform in cold weather. Also any compatability issues with the firestore and FCP with footage from v1u? Please feel free to make any suggestions, thanks!
