  • Capture Codec Digi Beta PAL, output DVD

    Here’s the problem:
I’ve got about five hours Digi Beta PAL 4:3 footage of lectures that I need to output on DVD.
Usually I would capture 10 bit uncompressed for TV broadcast.
As I am new to the wonderful world of DVD authoring, I am not sure which codec would be best to use for capturing in this instance.
    Plenty of storage available.

    Thanks!

FCP HD, Dual 2GHz G5, X Serve Raid, AJA IO, 10-bit uncompressed, Beta SP and Digi Beta PAL

Don’t hesitate. If you can capture it in 10b Unc, the best of the best for your DVD.

Thanks Rafael. Just wanted to make sure it’s not mad to do so.

If you want the best from Compressor, feed Compressor with the best you can. I work with DVCam, but I end-up with a 8/10b Unc master to send to Compressor.
And if you got Compressor 3, use the 444 Chroma filter.
    Cheers,

Thanks Rafael, haven’t got Compressor 3 (yet…), but will no doubt be fretting about compression issues next.

what is the most suitable codec to capture 16mins from digibeta to cut on final cut pro 6? A slight loss of image quality is ok if it means I don’t have to deal with massive files – I do have an external hard drive though.
