If I could have one thing for xmas…
…it would be to be able to import image sequences easily into FCP. I don’t know about other people, but I work in a gfx heavy world and people are very stubborn about using image sequences and it always gives me a huge headache.
Just venting.

Why don’t you use Motion to oprn up the image sequence first and then export a quicktime.
Quicktime player does this too.Peter

The option of Geremy looks really proffesional but complicated for my self that don’t use still sequences.
The option of Peter is easyer.
What I would do is to try to convince the graphist to export QT movies with Microcosm (RGB, 444[4] 16b per channel) or SHEER (444[4]/422[4],RGB/YCbCr 8/10b Unc). Will any still-sequence give better quality? If my graphist do not agree, I would do it my self, as Peter suggest with Motion or Shake. I try to avoid using sequences. Is not necesary to know much about computers to understad that is easier to manage a single file than few hundreds.
BTW if you don’t want spend a dollar buying any of those codecs, DigitalAnarchy have a “NONE” with 16b per channel (Alpha included) that you can download FREE in his web-site. Biger files but plays like DV with the QT player.

It’s easier for you to use a QT (BTW I think FCP is the only NLE that won’t import bitmap sequences) but when rendering 3d and mographics image sequences offer the advantage that partial rerenders are acheivable.

I agree that a quicktime is easier…for me. But as Alan said, it is generally better for the motion gfx people to work with image sequences. I know about making a qt out of image sequences with QT Pro, After Effects, Motion, etc…I even have Silver Stack (which is great for DPX work…just used it for the first time). But I just want to be able to load the image sequence right into FCP without doing any of those intermediate steps…which end up just taking a lot of time even though they are simple.
