  • EDL Import Help…real emergency.

I’ve captured several xdcam discs, each one is now its own respective dvcpro-hd 1080i 60 file.

I then made timecoded window dvds so my client can choose their selects. (with compressor and the timecode option)

I made the mistake of thinking I could do this with a batch list. it imports but when I reconnect the media it grabs the entire reel and not the select.

I then remembered that the proper method to do this if I’m not mistaken is with an edl, set it for dvcpro-hd and the method of connect rather than capture.

Problem is, I keep getting an error saying “badly formatted edl”

can anyone tell me the proper format I should be saving out of excel? I have tried .csv and tab delimited then I rename it to .edl but no go.

Some guy posted an excel file with instructions on how to build the .edl then how to format it for final cut and I’ll be danged if I can’t find.

The client is expecting working instructions very soon.

The best method of creating an EDL for any NLE is to spit out a properly formated EDL from that NLE and edit in your own events using a simple text editor such as Apple’s TextEdit.

Looks like EDL is not going to work. It requires editing of course and thats not what I want.

I want just selects from all 20 of my captured dvcpro-hd reels.

My client is providing me with the clip names, and timecode in and out points on an excel sheet after they viewed timecoded burned dvds.

I know I could do this by hand but thats not desirable, there has to be a way to do a “batch log import” to get the selects and reconnect the media without capturing.

when I try it as it is now, each select ends up bringinng in the entire dvcpro-hd file.
