Any idea why upon importing SWF’s into a project into AE 6.5 on Windows, that they come in as black footage?

I tried uninstalling / reinstalling same thing – I tried AE 7.0 as well – and same thing?

    Thx in advance!

OK that sounded perfect – I clicked the enable Flash check box and set SWF as a file type – and still black

    I am using QT’s latest 7.1

anyone else know why this might happen? or what the fix is? this has been going on for like 6 mos – and I have just been using utilities to convert SWF’s to AVI’s but it’s REALLY getting old

    any more help is apprecaited

Is it anything to do with your alpha channel. If you right-click on the swf in the project window, and choose to interpret the footage, and set it to ignore the alpha channel you’ll hopefully solve the problem.

I use swf’s in After Effects all the time, so please feel free to give me a shout.

    Hi Michael

You’re right, that whole section is greyed out for me too. The only time i’ve experienced the sort of problem you’re describing was with Camtasia studio’s screenscapture avi, not with Flash.

If you’d like to email me your swf file, I can check it out, see if i can make sense.
