  • Sequnce Updating Question

OK….a real life problem looking for a solution.
    1. I create 5 seperate sequences.
    2. I then take the five sequences and add them to a new sequence (I will call it “Combined”.)
    3. I want the new sequence (“Combined”)to remain unchanged…while I change some of the components of the 5 seperate seqeunce.
Of course the Combined sequence updates with the changes I have made to the 5 little sequences …How do I ask FCP nicely not to do this?
    4. If I duplicate the “Combined” sequence, can I change the it wihtout affecting the original “Combined” sequence? So I can have 2 different version.
    5. With this duplicating of sequences incur that “Lost Render
Files” curse that Apple has documented as a problem?

if you nest seqs in a seq its function it to update.

If you just copy all the clips in from the other seqs and then paste them into the “combined” seq it with not update with changes to the original seqs.

Or if you copy and paste the seq in. In fact, the duplicate of combined is no longer linked to the 5 seqs. They are now 5 little seqs thst exist only in the seq theyre nested in.
