modify timecode offset
How do I modify a series of clips by offsetting their timecode?
scenario: I have two tapes of the same event; continuous record (no T/C breaks); I log tape 1; I export an XML file and reimport that to get a second set of clips which I modify to be a log of tape 2, which matches the log of tape 1;
I modify its reel name (tape2) but I need to offset the timecodes of all the clips on tape 2 by one determined amount.How do I do that?

I answered your question in the Apple forum, and the answer is the same… can’t automatically do this.
Just capture the second camera’s footage with a handle and use in points to setup your multiclips.

just line up the payhead to frame to which you have a known timecode, go to the Modify menu and choose Timecode, and type in the new timecode for that frame
but Jerry is right twofold
1) you cant just modify tiemcode by a known offset, you have to match frames as above
2) given that youre matching frames anyway, then you may as well just mark an in point on those frames and synchronize the multiclip on in points -
Thanks for the responses. As I’ve said elsewhere, this lack of functionality is a gross deficiency for a professional application.
I will let Apple know.BTW, I’m not actually in need of editing these two tapes synchronized; I am just trying to find an easy way to log two similar tapes.
It’s been some years since I did this kind of work on Avid Media Composer, but I felt sure I was able to do it – even way back then.Anyway, as I said, I’ll add it to the list of improvements Apple needs to look at, in order to truly enter the professional world of editing …
