IS anyone using the Coraid, SmallTree or similar AoE protocol storage array with one or more FCP stations? Using a dedicated Jumboframe GigE network with the array, will that be enough bandwidth to write DVCPro 50? Right now just considering as a NAS device for storage and archive but would consider MetaSAN to do simultaneous read/write.

    Rick,

The last I saw Small-Tree is not pursuing AoE. They are going the iSCSI route. An iSCSI SAN is good for uncompressed SD and compressed HD formats. MetaSAN is great for uncompressed HD and beyond. How many editing rigs do you need to connect? Another option is to capture locally and “push” the media to central storage via Gig-E. Once there it is easy to back up to tape or a virtual tape libary.

    Cheers,
