  Cinema Tools 4 shortcomings

  Just a precaution on working with the new Cinema Tools 4.

  I wish to state for those that work with neg lists and now, Digital Intermediate workflows, that the new version of Cinema Tools is almost useless.

  To not be able to output a text file of your lists (only a pdf is generated) is a serious shortcoming. I have to re-format neg lists frequently, and now with DI becoming a standard way to finish for a film print (and the only way if you shoot 3-perf) the lists are even more manipulated and merged and such. Text files allowed me to tab-delimit the info into colums and export to a spreadsheet Excel document to create the customized lists necessary.

  Thankfully I still have my old version of cinema tools and being I didn’t edit ths current movie in FCP6 I am still able to effectively compile lists for finishing the current project I’m working on.

  Be very cautious before jumping into a project thinking that the new version of Cinema Tools will make your life easier.

  But with most PDFs can’t you just use the text tool in Preview, select all, copy and paste into a text document? I know it is a work around but this should work.
