  HDV to DV slow motion stuttering

  I’m down converting a project from HDV 1440×1080 to DV 720×480 in FCP 6.01. I copied my clips from the HDV timeline to a DV timeline. All scaled down to 50% and a shift fields filter was automatically added to all clips. The problem is that any slow motion clips (achieved via the motion tab) that played smoothly in the HDV time line stutter in the DV timeline after rendering. Anybody have any ideas why? I’m monitoring output via AJA Io on an NTSC monitor. I got the same results no matter what codec or render setting I chose for the down convert timeline including Pro Res 422 and 8-bit uncompressed.   Have you tried exporting as a DV self contained .mov, and reimporting and then adding the speed change?
