Hey. We’ve just recently purchased Watchout, so we’re in the process of creating media for it for an upcoming conference. I’m using Final Cut Studio 1 to make all the media for it. The final output will be 3 16/9 screens with no blend, so 2160/576 pixels (yeah I’m in Australia and the projectors are really only projecting a 4/3 image with letterboxing).

In Final Cut, if I make a sequence which is 2160/576 pixels, is there a way to export out 3 720/576 movies, instead of just one big one? Reasons for wanting to do this is apparently watchout doesn’t handle .mov resolutions beyond HD, or so I’ve heard, so having 3 .mov of 720/576 will work fine. Plus the system hasn’t arrived yet so we can’t test anything out yet (conference starting in 2 weeks…) Is there any other simple ways around this if Final Cut can’t do it. Don’t have After Effects at the moment.

Not sure I get the picture.
Can you nest the main sequence in three separate 720-wide sequences and change the x-position to left, center, or right in each of the three?

Yeah I can do that, was just wondering if there was a way to export 3 quicktime movies directly out of a 2160/576 sequence, saving having 2 create more sequences and all that

That would be a neat trick. I don’t know. How about export the sequence to Compressor 3 times, making a batch of three exports. Then, in the batch, adjust the cropping of each of the three to the area wanted? Not sure if Compressor has the type of cropping you need.

It might be able to, I had a bit of a play and the cropping in compressor seems to be a bit tedious trying to work out exact pixels. Think I may just be left nesting things, which will prob turn out as quick as trying 2 export a 2160/576 .mov and encode out 3 different vids from that.
