Am working on Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 on an XDCAM project. Am coming in as the 4th editor on the project so i have to deal with the way things were organized. It seems they transfered the XDCAM to MPEG 2 format and imported some as XDCAM HD (the correct format) Since the XD CAM footage works with external software, how do i upload the lower rez clips to hi rez? the only way i can think of doing it is to reimport every clip one by one, and reedit the whole movie, any suggestions on a better method??
I would really really appreciate anyone’s help on this or ideas.

Whomever captured the material in the wrong way should be spanked.

You’re solution is the only way to do this. However it may not be that painful if they kept the same clip names… might be able to relink to the full res files… But there’s no other way man….

If you had FCP 6, you could make this happen a lot easier BTW… you can rename browser clips to automatically match the source media files, which in turn might make a relink happen a lot easier.

bit confused by what you’re describing here …

XDCAM HD is an MPEG2 format
were there some clips coming from an SD XDCAM format, such as IMX (also and MPEG2 format) or DV

if you can more specifically explain the source and target formats of the clips/edit then I think someone will be better able to helpyou with some workflow suggestions

[dgomezmena] “how do i upload the lower rez clips to hi rez?”

I’m with Andy on this one… Explain yourself a little more.

Did they import the proxy files and now you need the actual files? Is this footage XDCAM or is it XDCAM HD?
