    Hello All,
We are going to offline a show which will be shooting 1080p(hdcam sr) and 720p(DVCPROHD) footage. We are planning on offlining the show using pro res 422 or DV. Time base 29.97. I would like to know how to deal with variale frame rate footage(We have slow motion shots)in the same timeline in FCP6.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Arjun Rao

    2 or 3 or 4 prelim questions:

Is the SR material 24p? Is the DVCPro HD material 24p?

Why offline in SD, and if you must why 29.97?

Do you have a capture card, more specifically do you have a Kona3X or above?

    Jeremy

    Dear Jeremy,
Thank you for replying to my post. We are considering 24p. The reason for SD was that we might not have an FCP 6 System to work with. However it woul dbe great if you have suggestions for the following scenarios.
We will be using the Arri D20 Camera to record to HDCAM SR (24p 4:4:4 Line HD Mode) and as the B camera the Varicam. We are trying to get FCP 6 so that we can edit the show using the PRo res 422 codec.
We were thinking 29.97 in offline because we will have to deliver a 59.94 master. However if we shoot 24p we will try and deliver in 24p.
That said we will offline in 23.976.
The decision about shooting in 24p is TBD however i do know (Please correct me if i’m wrong) that if we are not delivering the master in 24p then dealing with the variable frame rates gets tricky.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely,
    Arjun
