    Hey,

Does anyone have the problem that when you export a file from FCP (export quicktime movie, make movie self contained, use current settings) when that file is then opened in quicktime it is significantly softer than if it were opened in FCP?

    Regards,

    Phil

Did you set your options for what kind of QT codec?
The default is usually something crappy.

Two ways to fix this. open the movie in QT player, hit apple-j, click on the video track element ,then check the little tiny high quality box in the bottom right corner. Voila.

OPen up your your quicktime preferences (the one from quicktime player menu that says ‘preferences’, not ‘quicktime preferences’ and check the ‘use high quality video setting when available’ tick box. Viola.

Only that which I mentioned in my previous post. I just used ‘same as source’. The thing is that when this is imported back into final cut pro the quality is perfect – even if imported into sorenson squeeze the resolution is OK. It’s only on quicktime playback.

THANKYOU! Worked like a charm! Didn’t even know these extra menus existed. Thanks again.
