  limit when capturing to external hard drive

  Hello,

  I’m trying to capture to an external hard drive. This only seems to work with a time limit of 00.09.25.04.

  At this point FCP tells me I’ve run out of disc space, despite my having many gig still left.

  I’ve tried limiting the capture manually to 70 minutes, and though this appears to capture, when i locate the file it adds -av to the end, meaning once the hard drive is unplugged I lose the file.

  Any ideas gratefully received!

  Did you format the drive before using it?
  Many drives come pre-formatted for PC using the FAT32 format. This is an old format and only supports files as large as 4GB.

  Erase and re-format the drive for MacOS Extended and you should be fine.
