    hey dudes wandered if you could help.

    want to create the effect which I see on tv a lot of time lapse footage or speeded up footage with for example tailing headlights as cars go past. As
    if the shutter has been left open for a long time. I’m guessing that it is done on specialist film cameras but wandered if I could recreate it on video.
    We are using XDcam f330, which has time lapse capabilities; so I can do timelapse but still want the bluring tailing lights.

    I agree: use a digital still camera if you can. And the resolution of digital stills beats the heck out of video. For now. And you can shoot a sequence then import as a numbered sequence into AE.

    Just do a test with the camera’s meter on auto, spot, and manual first. You don’t want to create flicker that you have to fix later.

    Well, if photographic techniques fail, you can always use the Echo effect or particle trails nailed to the footage with motion tracking (which is probably more efficient, anyways)
